I finally started prepping my food forest this past week. I’m converting an actual forest into a food forest. The soil is amazing! Deep, rich, biologically super active. I’m cutting out the existing pine trees, chipping them up to make a deep layer of additional mulch to protect the soil until the canopy is reestablished. I’m leaving in some giant “mother trees” old oaks mainly, 75+ feet tall. I’m starting with about 6,000 square feet. It will eventually be about half an acre. I’ll be putting in the other trees and plants over the next year(s).

Taking 5 years to build it up might seem like a long time, but if it’s done right it will be a generational resource. I look forward to the process. Thank again.
